Ravens in Mythology.

Raven and crows are part of the Corvus family and these birds have had a special place in the mythology of various cultures. Often depicted as a guide or prophet, Odin father of the Norse and Teutonic gods was accompanied in this travels by two ravens. Odin sent the ravens out each day to survey the land and bring back news of the world to him. Renowned for their playfulness and memory, crows and ravens are considered to posses intelligence similar to that of the great apes. They form a tight family circle and mate for life. Native North American tribes saw the raven as a healer and the bringer of light.  

 

Symbolism: Nobility, compassion and family joy. Messengers between the living and spirit worlds.
